Major Litigation Accomplishments
Rice v. Paladin Press in the United States Court of Appeals
for the Fourth Circuit ruled that the publisher of a "how-to" murder instruction
manual may be held accountable when the instructions in the publication
were used to carry out a triple murder. Rice has been hailed
as a landmark victim's rights case and the most important First Amendment
decision in the past half-century.
Kelley v. R.G. Industries a case of first impression in
the United States that remains the only appellate case in the country
which to hold that the manufacturer of a firearm can be held strictly
liable to the victim of a crime.
Gray v. Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance in the United States
Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, which established the right
of an insured to bring suit against his insurer for a verdict in excess
of his policy limits when the insurer is negligent in failing to settle
the claim within policy limits.
Earnest v. Sikorsky Aircraft Company co-counsel in a suit
on behalf of seven Green Berets, who were in a military helicopter crash
in Arkansas that settled for 9.6 million dollars.
Mr. Siegel has appeared as a featured guest on the "Today Show" three
times, "60 Minutes," "Larry King Live," the PBS series "Inside the Law,"
"Court TV," "British Television," "Mitchell in the Morning," and "Univision."
His cases have sparked two editorials in the Washington Post, and
columns in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine,
Baltimore Sun, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, and Denver Post.
